In Colombia, Former Leftist Guerrilla Leads Presidential Hopefuls

SANTA CRUZ DE LORICA, Colombia—A former leftist guerrilla-turned-senator, Gustavo Petro, is favored to be the following president of a rustic he pledges to remodel by phasing out oil and coal manufacturing, and ending the U.S.-backed drug battle.

“We’ve specialized in coal, oil and cocaine, and the three are poisons that are not economically sustainable,” Mr. Petro mentioned in an interview after a latest day of speeches in small-town plazas by which he railed towards the ruling class.
